Scaffolding couplers can be applied in low-temperature environments(such as cold regions or winter construction),but low temperatures will affect the mechanical properties of the couplers,so strict requirements on product performance and use specifications must be followed to avoid safety hazards.
First, the selection of couplers should focus on low-temperature resistance.Forged scaffolding couplers are preferred,as their dense internal structure and excellent toughness make them less prone to brittleness at low temperatures compared with pressed ones.High-quality alloy steel or heat-treated carbon steel materials can further improve cold resistance, ensuring the couplers do not fracture or deform in low-temperature conditions.
Most standard scaffolding couplers have a suitable operating temperature range of-20℃to 65℃,while premium models can withstand temperatures as low as-40℃,which can meet the needs of most low-temperature construction scenarios. The couplers must comply with standards such as EN74 and BS1139,which specify strict requirements for low-temperature performance.
In addition, proper installation and maintenance are essential.Low temperatures may cause bolt cold shrinkage and looseness,so torque wrenches should be used to retighten bolts regularly.Anti-freezing lubricants can be applied to the rotating parts of couplers to avoid jamming due to freezing, and ice and snow on the couplers should be removed in time to prevent additional load and slipping risks.
