High-rise construction has strict requirements on the safety and stability of scaffolding systems, and scaffolding couplers,as core connecting components, directly affect the overall safety of the scaffolding. The selection of couplers must be scientific and rigorous, combining the characteristics of high-rise construction and following key selection principles.
First, prioritize couplers with high load-bearing capacity and structural strength.High-rise scaffolding bears large vertical and horizontal loads,so drop-forged couplers are preferred over pressed ones.Drop-forged couplers have a dense internal structure and strong mechanical properties, which can withstand repeated assembly and disassembly and heavy loads without deformation or fracture.
Second, ensure compliance with relevant international or national standards.Couplers for high-rise construction must meet strict standards such as EN74,BS1139 or GB/T 15831-2023,which specify strict requirements for load-bearing capacity, slip resistance and durability, ensuring the couplers can adapt to high-altitude harsh conditions.
Third, select couplers with excellent corrosion resistance.High-rise construction scaffolding is exposed to outdoor environments for a long time,so couplers with reliable surface treatment(such as hot-dip galvanizing)are recommended. The thick zinc layer can effectively prevent rust and corrosion, extending the service life and avoiding safety hazards caused by corrosion damage.
Fourth, ensure compatibility with scaffolding steel pipes. The selected couplers must match the outer diameter of the steel pipes(usually 48.3mm or 48.0mm)to ensure tight connection, avoiding loose connections caused by mismatch, which may lead to scaffolding instability at high altitudes.
Finally, consider the reliability of the locking mechanism.Couplers for high-rise construction should have a firm locking structure, such as a double-lock design,to prevent loosening due to high-altitude wind vibration, ensuring long-term stable connection of the scaffolding system.
