The first classification basis is adjustable length,which is the most common classification method for steel props in building construction,as it directly matches the construction height requirements.According to the adjustable range,steel props are usually divided into short,medium and long types,with clear standard specifications and corresponding application scenarios:
1.Short adjustable steel props:The adjustable range is 0.8m-1.5m,which is mainly used for low-height formwork support scenarios,such as interior wall formwork,small-span floor slabs and temporary maintenance support.The common models include GT-0815(adjustable length 0.8m-1.5m),with a single tube length of 0.8m-1.2m before adjustment.This type of prop is small in size,light in weight,easy to transport and install,and suitable for indoor small-space construction.
2.Medium adjustable steel props:The adjustable range is 1.5m-3.5m,which is the most widely used type in general building construction,suitable for residential floor slabs,commercial building middle floors and ordinary formwork support.Common models include GT-1535(1.5m-3.5m),GT-2030(2.0m-3.0m),etc.The inner and outer tube lengths of this type of prop are reasonably matched,and the load-bearing capacity is moderate,which can meet the load requirements of most ordinary building construction scenarios.
3.Long adjustable steel props:The adjustable range is 3.5m-5.5m,and some extended models can reach 6.0m-8.0m,mainly used for high-height construction scenarios,such as high-rise building core tubes,large-span beams and bridge formwork support.Common models include GT-3555(3.5m-5.5m),GT-4060(4.0m-6.0m).Due to the large adjustable range,this type of prop usually adopts thickened tube walls and reinforced locking mechanisms to ensure structural stability,and is often used with horizontal and diagonal bracings to enhance overall bearing capacity.
The second classification basis is tube diameter and wall thickness,which directly affects the load-bearing capacity and structural strength of steel props.The tube diameter and wall thickness of steel props for building construction are standardized,and the common specifications are as follows:
1.Tube diameter specification:The common outer tube diameters are 48mm,60mm,76mm and 89mm,and the inner tube diameter is 42mm,54mm,70mm and 83mm respectively,which are matched with the outer tube to ensure flexible telescoping.Among them,the 48mm outer tube(inner tube 42mm)is the most common,suitable for medium and small load scenarios;the 60mm and 76mm outer tubes are suitable for high-load scenarios such as large-span floor slabs and thick concrete slabs;the 89mm outer tube is mainly used for heavy-load support scenarios such as bridge engineering and high-rise building core tubes.

The third classification basis is load-bearing capacity,which is divided according to the rated load-bearing capacity of steel props,and is closely related to the material and structural design.According to the load-bearing level,it is divided into light-duty,medium-duty and heavy-duty steel props:
1.Light-duty steel props:The rated load-bearing capacity is 10kN-30kN,mainly made of Q195 or Q235 steel,with a tube diameter of 48mm and a wall thickness of 2.5mm-2.75mm.They are suitable for light-load scenarios such as small-span floor slabs,interior wall formwork and temporary support,and have the advantages of low cost and convenient use.
2.Medium-duty steel props:The rated load-bearing capacity is 30kN-60kN,made of Q235 or Q355 steel,with a tube diameter of 48mm-60mm and a wall thickness of 3.0mm-3.25mm.They are widely used in ordinary residential and commercial building floor slabs,beam formwork support,and can bear the weight of concrete,formwork and construction personnel.
3.Heavy-duty steel props:The rated load-bearing capacity is 60kN-100kN,made of high-strength Q355 steel,with a tube diameter of 76mm-89mm and a wall thickness of 3.5mm.They are suitable for heavy-load scenarios such as large-span beams,thick concrete slabs,bridge formwork and high-rise building core tubes,and have excellent structural stability and load-bearing capacity.Some heavy-duty models adopt cold-formed processing technology to further improve tensile strength.
The fourth classification basis is structural type,which is divided according to the structural design of steel props,and the common types include telescopic thread type,pin type and disk buckle type,each with unique specification models and application characteristics:
1.Telescopic thread type steel props:The most common structural type,with a thread adjustment mechanism,which can be finely adjusted.The specification models are usually marked with adjustable length,tube diameter and load-bearing capacity,such as GT-2030-48-30(adjustable length 2.0m-3.0m,outer tube diameter 48mm,rated load 30kN).This type of prop is flexible in adjustment,high in precision(adjustment accuracy 1-5mm),and suitable for most building construction scenarios.
2.Pin type steel props:The adjustment mechanism adopts pin connection,which is fast in adjustment and suitable for scenarios requiring quick installation and disassembly.The specification models are marked with adjustable length and tube diameter,such as GT-1535-60-P(adjustable length 1.5m-3.5m,outer tube diameter 60mm,pin type).This type of prop is widely used in temporary support and large-scale construction sites.
3.Disk buckle type steel props:With a disk connection structure,it can be quickly connected with horizontal bracings and diagonal bracings to form an integral support system.The specification models are marked with tube diameter,length and load-bearing capacity,such as DB-48-30-50(disk buckle type,outer tube diameter 48mm,length 3.0m,rated load 50kN).This type of prop has strong overall stability and is suitable for large-span,high-height and heavy-load support scenarios,and is often used in modern large-scale building construction.
In addition,the specification models of steel props for building construction also need to comply with relevant national,industrial and international standards.Domestic standards such as JGJ130-2011 and GB/T 2518-2019 clearly specify the size parameters,load-bearing performance and quality requirements of steel props;international standards such as EN 1065(European standard)and ASTM A123(American standard)have corresponding specification requirements for steel props used in international projects.For example,EN 1065 specifies the tube diameter,wall thickness and load-bearing capacity of adjustable telescopic steel props,while EN 10025 standard provides material performance requirements for steel props made of H-section steel.
It should be noted that when selecting the specification model of steel props for building construction,it is necessary to comprehensively consider the construction height,load requirements,application scenarios and relevant standards.For example,for residential floor slabs with a height of 2.8m-3.0m and ordinary load,medium adjustable steel props with model GT-2030(adjustable length 2.0m-3.0m),outer tube diameter 48mm and wall thickness 3.0mm can be selected;for high-rise building core tubes with a height of 4.0m-5.0m and heavy load,long adjustable heavy-duty steel props with model GT-4050(adjustable length 4.0m-5.0m),outer tube diameter 76mm and wall thickness 3.5mm should be selected.At the same time,the matching of steel props with other components(such as horizontal bracings,diagonal bracings,bases)should be considered to ensure the overall stability of the support system.
In practical application,there are also customized specification models of steel props,which can be adjusted according to the specific needs of the project,such as special adjustable length,tube diameter,wall thickness and load-bearing capacity.Customized models need to be designed and produced by professional manufacturers in accordance with relevant standards to ensure that they meet the safety and performance requirements of the project.
