Q195 steel prop is a common temporary support component in construction projects, widely used in formwork support, scaffolding reinforcement, and other scenarios, and its load capacity parameter is a core index to ensure construction safety. As a Chinese plain carbon structural steel, Q195 steel has a yield strength of 195 MPa and a tensile strength of 315-430 MPa, which lays the material foundation for its load-bearing capacity, but the actual load capacity of the steel prop is not only determined by the material properties but also affected by multiple structural and working factors.
The load capacity of Q195 steel prop is mainly divided into light-duty and heavy-duty according to the structural type, and the specific parameters vary with the tube specification and adjustable length. For light-duty Q195 steel props with cup nuts, the common tube specifications include 40/48 mm and 48/56 mm (inner tube/outer tube diameter), with a wall thickness of 1.6-2.2 mm, an adjustable length range of 1.6 m-4.0 m, and the safe load is relatively low, suitable for small-load support scenarios such as ordinary formwork.
For heavy-duty Q195 steel props, the common tube specification is 48/60 mm (inner tube/outer tube diameter), with a wall thickness of 1.8-3.0 mm, and the adjustable length ranges from 1.8 m-5.0 m. Due to the thicker tube wall and more stable structural design, its load-bearing capacity is significantly higher than that of light-duty props, which can be used in large-load support scenarios such as bridge construction and high-rise building formwork.
It should be emphasized that the load capacity of Q195 steel prop is not a fixed value. According to the actual application characteristics, the safe load will change with the distance between the two ends of the prop and the eccentricity of the load relative to the longitudinal axis of the prop: the longer the distance between the ends, the lower the safe load; the greater the load eccentricity, the lower the stability of the prop, and the corresponding safe load will also decrease accordingly.
In addition, the tube thickness, base plate size, and connection method of Q195 steel prop will also affect its load capacity. The thicker the tube wall, the stronger the resistance to compression and bending, and the higher the load capacity; the larger the base plate size (common sizes are 120 mm×120 mm and 150 mm×150 mm, with a thickness of 3.75 mm-5.5 mm), the more uniform the load distribution, which can improve the bearing stability of the prop. In actual construction, the load capacity of Q195 steel prop should be selected according to the specific support requirements and working conditions to ensure the safety and reliability of the support system.
